On the occasion of Teachers' Day, a special programme was organised in the Eastern Naval Command (ENC) to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the teachers of 14 CBSE affiliated schools under the aegis of the ENC on September 5, 2018. Principals and teachers from Sainik School, Korukonda, Navy Children School, six Kendriya Vidyalayas, Visvodaya High School, Sankalp and Little Angels School attended the function. During the programme Vice Admiral MS Pawar, Chief of Staff, ENC awarded the 'Best in Academics Trophy' for the Academic year 2017-18 to Navy Children School, Visakhapatnam which won the trophy for the fourth successive time for best performance in Class X and XII board examinations amongst the CBSE affiliated schools under the administration of ENC. Dr Parul Kumar, Principal, Navy Children School, Visakhapatnam accepted the trophy on behalf of the school.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Adm Pawar emphasised that the Indian civilisational ethos always accorded an exalted status to Guru which is evident from the Sanskrit saying GURU DEVO BHAVA. He stated that the best investment a nation makes in development of its human capital and nation building is on the teachers as they form the back bone of the society. He highlighted that a teachers role was not limited to the text book alone but also extended to shaping the character, indicating ethics, gender sensitivity, respect for fundamental duties etc. Congratulating all the teachers for the praiseworthy job being done, the Admiral urged all teachers to continue their efforts in nation building.
