In yet another leap of faith, 'Asha Kiran', a unique pilot project, conceptualised by Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) and executed under the aegis of Head Quarters, Delhi Area, has been established at Delhi Area Primary School-1 (DAPS-1), Delhi Cantt. The initiative aims to provide common platform enabling early intervention for children with special needs so that they become equal partners in learning process.
Mrs Madhulika Rawat, President AWWA, dedicated 'Asha Kiran' to children and parents of Armed Forces on the occasion of AWWA Day. The initiative is supported by DHFL Pramerica LIC Ltd.
Speaking on the occasion Mrs Madhulika Rawat complimented DHFL Pramerica LIC Ltd for supporting the noble cause and said, "Asha Kiran brings a hope for all our children with special needs. Education is the right of every child in a manner that he/she can develop to the optimum potential and growth and 'Asha Kiran' aims to fulfill this prime objective for every child".
'Asha Kiran' comprises of a Creative Learning & Resource Room, a Speech Therapy Room, a Sensory Therapy Room and two rooms for Special Educators. The rooms are well equipped with requisite tools and equipment for the specialist teachers to address the children with special needs. It is supported with experienced and competent team of management and professionals to include Psychologist, Special Educators, Speech Therapist and Occupational Therapist.
