Central Command celebrates Raising Day
The 55th Raising Day of Headquarters Central Command also known as the Surya Command was celebrated on May 1, 2018 at the Command Headquarters in Lucknow.
To commemorate the occasion Lieutenant General BS Negi, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Central Command laid a wreath at Smritika War Memorial in revered remembrance of the martyrs who laid down their lives for the safety and security of the nation. The other events organised during the celebrations were the "Sarva Dharma Sthal" function wherein all troops got together and prayed for the success of the Central Command in all operational and administrative tasks entrusted upon it. A Band Symphony followed by lunch at the station Sainik Institute was also orgainsed for all troops.
Lieutenant General BS Negi, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Central Command in his address complemented and commended all ranks for their valuable contribution towards maintaining high standards of operational readiness despite heavy commitments and exhorted each soldier to rededicate themselves to the resolve of the Central Command to achieve the pinnacle of professionalism and shine like "Surya" in all their endeavours and always keep the Central Command flag flying high.
Central Command spans over seven states and has a large number of logistics and training establishments falling under the Central Command Zone. Around half of the total cantonments of the country come under the command & control of Headquarters Central Command. In addition, Central Command Area of Responsibility also makes up for approximately 40% of the serving soldiers and 30% of veterans of Indian Army cum the nation.
