Masters Degree in Management to 152 Armed Forces Officers
The Valedictory Function of the Higher Defence Management Course-13 (HDMC-13) was held at College of Defence Management (CDM), Secunderabad. Lieutenant General Paramjit Singh, Commandant MCEME presided over the function and delivered the valedictory address. Higher Defence Management Course is a unique and flagship course wherein 152 selected officers of the rank of Colonel and equivalent from the three services of the Indian Armed Forces and Friendly Foreign Countries undergo an intensive ten months' curriculum at College of Defence Management, Secunderabad. The participant officers from friendly foreign countries were from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, Nigeria, Philippines and Sri Lanka. On completion of the course, the successful participants were awarded with the degree of Master in Management Studies (MMS) by Osmania University, Hyderabad and a certificate of Advanced Course in Management by the All India Management Association.
CDM is a premier tri-services institution, acknowledged as a Centre of Excellence for imparting training in Defence Management. The course curriculum covers various management subjects related to Behavioral Sciences, Decision Sciences, Resource Management and Research Methodology. The College has made significant strides in aligning and integrating management philosophy with operational planning.
In his welcome address, Major General Sandeep Sharma, Commandant, CDM highlighted the activities of the past academic year and complimented the participants for their creditable performance. He stressed on development of character and competence as a mantra of success. He hoped that the course curriculum has succeeded in stimulating effective management thought processes which would crystallize into concrete measures for optimization of operational effectiveness and resources in the Armed Forces.
In his valedictory address, the Chief Guest Lieutenant General Paramjit Singh congratulated the graduating participants, who have gone through a demanding curriculum in the last 44 weeks at the College. He also complimented and expressed his special appreciation and congratulations to those who excelled in various disciplines during the curriculum. He acknowledged the fact that the participant officers of this prestigious course are the future leadership of three services of the Indian armed forces and friendly foreign countries. He expressed his confidence that the subjects covered during the course will empower officers to take timely, informed and positive action oriented decisions in their position as senior military leaders. He emphasized the implicit need for the leadership of the armed forces to have clear awareness of the dynamic Geo Political situation and its effect on various aspect of the National Security. He also congratulated the College for designing the rich course content with exercises, activities, visits, project studies and research work to broaden the experiential learning and knowledge base of the officers which would enable them to take informed decisions and craft out effective strategies.
