Rajouri Pays Tribute to its Martyrs
Rajouri Day is celebrated on April 13 every year as on this day Rajouri was liberated from the rebel intruders who had infiltrated from across the border. The festivities were kick started by Maj Gen MV Suchindra, GOC Ace of Spades Division by inaugurating plethora of events at Rajouri.
The Rajouri Day celebrations coincided with "Year of Disabled Soldiers of Indian Army" wherein the celebrations of martyrdom, peace and harmony were given a supplementary flavour of commemorating our disabled war veterans under the theme "Disabled Soldiers – Legacy of Service & Life of Dignity". A plethora of assistance booths were set up by Record Offices, Recruitment Office, Education Department, Medical & Veterinary Department and various civil agencies dealing with PAN Card, AADHAR Card and National Banks.
Lt Gen Saranjeet Singh, GOC White Knight Corps paid tributes to the War Heroes joined by Military dignitaries of Ace of Spades Division, and eminent personalities from Civil administration, Political and Social strata in wreath laying ceremony at the famous Gujjar Mandi Chowk, Rajouri.
Myriad cultural programmes including colorful display of Ethnic Kaleidoscope of the region by the children of Valley View Army Public School, Army Goodwill Public School and National Public School were on show. The event also showcased the martial dance of 'Gataka' performed by the Sikh troops, Para Motor display, Equestrian Show Jumping, Dog Show, Pipe Band Display & Sky Diving display by the Special Forces. The Chief Guest felicitated the Veer Naris of the region with Souvenirs & suitable aids and the disabled soldiers were felicitated with Mementoes & Gifts. A slew of other events were also conducted in the run up to Historic Day, like motivational and educational tours for the local students and interaction between the Ex Servicemen and the Army & civil administration.
