Mega Veterans Rally at Prithi Military Station
A mega Veterans Rally was organised at Prithi Military Station (Averipatti), Rampur on April 8, 2018 under the aegis of Headquarters Western Command. The rally witnessed an overwhelming response wherein 636 Veterans, 12 Veer Naris and 148 ESM Widows from far flung and remote areas of Shimla, Mandi, Kullu, Kinnaur, Lahaul & Spiti districts attended. Representatives of ECHS, Zila Sainik Board, AWES, AWPO, Record Offices, PCDA, important Banks etc., were at hand to assist the veterans in resolving their issues. Various representatives of different organisation present at the rally, educated the attendees about the existing policies, schemes, facilities launched / established by Indian Government, Indian Army, Directorate of Indian Army Veterans (DIAV) and Himachal Government for our Veterans. A medical camp was also organised with a number of specialists viz Dentist, Eye Specialist, Medical Specialist, ENT Specialist, Orthopaedician and Gynecologist, where, screening for life style diseases, cancer, and vision related ailments was conducted. Prosthesis for the mobility challenged, walking sticks and walkers were handed out free of charge during the rally.
The gathering then witnessed the solemn felicitation of Veer Naris and ESM Widows by Maj Gen Sanjeev Chowdhry, GOC, PH&HP(I) Sub Area, along with a host of state and district administrative officials. The Chief Guest, while addressing the rally, acknowledged the sacrifice and contribution of the veterans to the nation and highlighted the efforts of HQ Western Command, PH&HP(I) Sub Area and Government of Himachal Pradesh in reaching out to the veterans.
The event culminated with an exhilarating cultural show, that included Gatka, Lazium, Bhangra and a Pipe Band display. The rally finally concluded with a community lunch.
