A mega veteran rally was organised by the 57 Armd Bde of DOT Division at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Rohtak on February 25, 2018 under the aegis of South Western Command. The Year 2018 is being celebrated by the Indian Army as the 'Year of War Disabled Soldiers' and keeping with the traditions of the services, the disabled soldiers were felicitated during the rally. The rally witnessed huge response from Ex-Servicemen with as many as 10,000 turning up to reaffirm their bond with the profession of Olive Greens. A total of 31 specially modified scooters, one motorized wheel chair, 20 wheel chairs and various grants were distributed to the disabled veterans. In addition to this, the Veer Naris and War Widows were also felicitated during the event. Lieutenant General Taranjit Singh, VSM**, GOC STRIKE-1 Corps attended the rally alongwith Major General JJ Mathews, GOC, DOT Division.
A number of counters were set up to extend the facilities to the Ex-Servicemen including 22 stalls from the record offices to resolve pension anomalies and other stalls like ECHS, Canteen Smart Card, Aadhaar registration and resettlement. A medical camp was organized to meet the medical needs of attendees and a Grievance Resolution Cell was also established by the civil administration to resolve the problems of veterans.
While addressing the veterans, GOC STRIKE-1 reiterated the various facilities being extended to veterans by the Indian Army as well as the Indian and State Governments. He reassured the gathering that all out efforts are being made by the Army and civil government to resolve the grievances of Ex Servicemen. He thanked the civil administration in extending whole hearted support for successful conduct of the rally.
