A Capacity Building Tour to Chandigarh, Delhi and Dehradun under flagship Sadhbhavana for school students from Kalakote and adjoining villages of Rajouri District, was flagged on February 21, 2018, in a formal ceremony organised at Reasi based Force Headquarters. The 11 days tour included visit to historical and tourist places alongwith select educational institutions of reputes in the three cities.
On February 11, 2018, after flagging off from Train, Naushera, the students interacted with Major General Arvind Bhatia, General Officer Commanding, Counter Insurgency Force (Uniform) at Reasi who encouraged the students to make the most of this experience of visiting the urban cities. He told them that the exposure they were likely to get during 11 days tour, would help them to widen their horizons and make them better Indians. He also impressed upon the students that they were the ambassadors of Jammu and Kashmir with a god sent opportunity to showcase their culture.
The highlight of the tour was the interaction of the students with the Chief of Army Staff General Bipin Rawat on February 16, 2018 where he shared his experience and motivated them to work-hard and contribute actively towards nation building. He called upon the youth to join the Indian Armed Forces and serve the cause of the nation. He was overwhelmed with patriotic spirit exhibited by the students as they had proudly won tricolor ethnic attire.
During the tour the students visited APS Dhaula Kuan, Sri Venkateswara College, Nehru Planetarium, India Gate, Dilli Haat, Sarojini Market and Qutab Minar at Delhi, the Rashtriya Indian Military College, Indian Military Academy, Forest Research Institute and Timber Museum at Dehradun along with Punjab University, Rock Garden, Sukhna Lake, Mohali Stadium, Rose Garden, Le Corbusier Centre and Sector 17 Market at Chandigarh.
The aim of this tour was to spread a message of goodwill in the state and make the civil populace aware of genuine efforts undertaken by the Army in integrating population from remote and border areas with the mainstream. This tour helped the students to broaden their horizon which will be further prorogated to the society. It provided them opportunity to witness the immense development in other parts of the country and learn as well as implement the ideas in the home state.
During the Flagging In, the Officiating General Officer Commanding, Force Headquarters Reasi exhorted them to make the best of this exposure and try to explore numerous avenues available for self employment. The students thanked the Army for organising such a monumental tour and mentioned that they will always cherish this experience.
The Capacity building Tour has made a forceful impact on the young minds and has instilled in them the patriotism spirit and zeal. The sensitivity and indulgence exhibited by the Army in providing these youth an opportunity to strive for a bright future was noteworthy. The successful completion of this tour has resulted in fostering closer relationship between the locals and the Army. It has also developed a deep sense of belongingness for the nation in the hearts of these students of remote areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
