Governor's Banner awarded to NCC Group HQ, Lucknow
The Annual presentation of awards to the best cadets and NCC Group of Uttar Pradesh National Cadet Corps (NCC) Directorate for the training year 2017-18 was held at Raj Bhawan in Lucknow on February 3, 2018.
Shri Ram Naik, the Governor of Uttar Pradesh graced the occasion as Chief Guest and presented Gold and Silver Medals to the best cadets of all three Wings viz the Army, Navy & Air Force comprising of junior and senior division boy and girl cadets. The immaculately attired cadets smartly marched forward to receive their medals from the Governor to a thunderous applause by the gathering. The NCC Cadets also presented an impressive cultural programme at the Raj Bhawan showcasing the culture, heritage and achievements of Uttar Pradesh.
The Governor's Banner for the best NCC Group HQ was awarded to NCC Group Headquarter Lucknow. Brig AK Singh, Group Commander Lucknow received the Governor's Banner.
The cadets who received the Governor's Gold Medals (2017-18) were Cadet Agriya Srivastava and Cadet Ravinder Kumar of NCC Group HQ Kanpur, Cadet Vikas Singh of Group HQ Allahabad, Cadet Sumit Kumar Rai and Cadet Chatanya Rathore of Group HQ Lucknow and Cadet Shikha Kumari of Group HQ Agra. Governor's Silver Medals (2017-18) were given to Cadet Hardeep Kaur of Group HQ Ghaziabad, Cadet Shreshtha Saxena and Cadet Khooshbu of Group HQ Varanasi 'B', Cadet Manoj Gupta and Cadet VS Karki of Group HQ Lucknow and Cadet Mohit Kumar of Group HQ Kanpur.
The Governor Shri Ram Naik in his address congratulated the cadets for their laudable achievements and said that the NCC Cadets form one of the most "disciplined group of youth" in the country. He praised the cadets for their dedication, commitment, honesty and selflessness in facing the challenges as well as achieving their goals. He highlighted that NCC is always working for a better future of the youth in the country. NCC plays a very important role in Nation building, he added. On this occasion, Shri Ram Naik remembered his training as a NCC Cadet. He shared his own experiences with the cadets and appreciated the efficient social service works being undertaken by NCC Cadets all over the country. Shri Ram Naik announced rupees One Lakh prize to the NCC Cadets who participated in the cultural programme held at Raj Bhawan on this occasion.
The welcome address on this occasion was given by Maj Gen RGR Tiwari, Additional Director General of NCC Directorate (UP) who thanked the Governor for sparing valuable time to grace the occasion as the Chief Guest. Maj Gen Tiwari said that the NCC Directorate (UP) has secured fourth position in Republic Day Camp 2018, out of Seventeen NCC Directorates across the country. He also spoke at length about the aims, training and achievements of the NCC Directorate (UP) during the training year 2017-18. He expressed hope that the cadets would strive harder to achieve the best position in the coming year.
