The Mechanised Reconnaissance Troop / Platoons are "EYES AND EARS" of the Combat Group / Combat Team. These Reconnaissance Warriors are instrumental in gaining valuable information, which may turn the tide in battle for the Combat Group commander. Training and operational orientation of these Reconnaissance Troop / Platoons is of utmost importance for Armoured Regiments, Mechanised Infantry Batallions and Reconnaissance & Support Battalions. It is imperative that these Reconnaissance Warriors are tested from time to time in order to enable them to refine their skills as also to inculcate a healthy spirit of competition.
Inter Unit Reconnaissance Troop / Platoons Competition of Konark Corps was conducted on the operational tasks and role of Reconnaissance Troop / Platoons in desert under the aegis of Blazing Skies Air Defence Brigade in General Area Pokhran - Lathi from April 16-20, 2018. During the 72-96 hours Exercise, the participating teams were judged for the their endurance, proficiency in handling Small Arms, camouflage and concealment, surveillance, engineer aspects, Night Navigation etc. The Exercise has been designed to test the Reconnaissance Troops in operational environment with an enduring regime of their tasks based on a tactical situation.
The event concluded with the prize distribution ceremony, held at Lathi on April 20, 2018. Lt Gen RK Jagga, GOC 12 Corps felicitated the champion teams and also gave away the awards to participants / units who excelled in their respective events. The GOC complemented the participants on their arduous effort and indomitable spirit shown during the exercise. The GOC also complemented the Blazing Skies Air Defence Brigade for planning and conducting the event in a professional manner.
