Platinum Jubilee Celebrations of the 'Dragons'
No. 6 Squadron of Indian Air Force called Dragons celebrated its Platinum Jubilee From December 2-4, 2017 at Air Force Station Jamnagar. No. 6 Squadron was formed on December 1, 1942 with Sqn Ldr Mehar Singh in command. Presently the Squadron is commanded by Group Captain SC Mulay. It is one of the oldest Squadrons in the Indian Air Force and has many laurels and achievements to its credit. In the glorious 75 years of its history, the Squadron has come a long way to the present Maritime Strike Jaguar aircraft from the Hurricanes that were inducted at the time of its raising. The motto of the Squadron 'Sada Satark' means 'Ever Alert' . The Squadron has been part of action during various campaigns viz: Burma (1943), Goa (1961), Chinese Operations (1962), Indo-Pak Wars (1965 and 1971), Operation Vijay(1999) and Operation Parakram (2002).
Various dignitaries who attended the celebrations include, Air Marshal RK Dhir, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief South Western Air Command, Air Marshal J Walia Commander-in-Chief SFC, Air Marshal Anil Khosla Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief Eastern Air Command and Air Commodore Sanjai Chauhan Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station Jamnagar.
Parasailing for personnel, Parajump display by 'Air Devil' Team of Indian Air Force, Musical Performance by SWAC Band, Bara-Khana for personnel and families, Social Evening at Officers' Mess marked the elaborate Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
