NCC cadets and students visit ICGS Sujay
In continuation with the events being conducted towards commemoration of the 41st raising day of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) on February 1, 2018, the ICG brought in their newly built Advanced Offshore Vessel named 'Sujay' for a planned visit by cadets of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and students from various schools in and around Kolkata. Over 150 children visited various sections of the ICGS Sujay and got briefed about navigation/ communication equipment, electrical system, the main propulsion system and the armament and offensive equipment on board the ship. The students displayed keen interest in learining about the role of the Coast Guard as a maritime law enforcement agency. They also learnt about the importance of focussed coastal security mechanism and the enhanced role of the ICG in improving overall coastal security along the coastline. The Captain and crew of the ship interacted with the students and answered their queries on a variety of topics ranging from Coast Guard operations to how to join Coast Guard.
To raise awareness and motivate school children ICGS Sujay is planned to remain docked at the Kidderpore dock till January 31, 2018.
