The Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi took the Salute at an impressive ceremonial parade held at Cariappa Parade Ground Delhi Cantt by the NCC Cadets. It was a grand spectacle of pageantry marked with precision as also a vibrant expression of pulsating energy and excellence embedded in the smart drill. Hundred cadets from friendly foreign countries participating under Youth Exchange Programme (YEP) also marched along with their Indian counter parts. It was a true picture of aspirational India, on their journey to become worthy empowered citizens with sound values inculcated by a common powerful binding force – NATIONAL CADET CORPS.
The Prime Minister Rally evolved in its present form in 1954 and since then all Prime Ministers have graciously presided over the event. About 2000 cadets participated in the rally this year which is a fine culmination of the month long NCC Republic Day Camp 2018.
The smart march-past by the cadets from all NCC Directorates, included a mounted column and NCC bands marching in tune.
The tableaux participating in the parade comprised Army, Naval and Air Wing, Sports and Adventure, Environmental, Social Service and community development activities. They magnificently showcased multifarious activities undertaken by the cadets.
The Prime Minister then gave away trophies to prize winners. The Prime Minister's Banner was presented to the Punjab, Haryana & Chandigarh Directorate.
In his address to the cadets, the Prime Minister urged the cadets to attain their aim and desired goals in life by hard work and dedication. He complimented NCC for shaping the future of the country by inculcating rich traditions of our country and spirit of 'Youthful Energy' in the youth. He said he believed NCC gives a 'Sense of Mission' to the cadets. He urged the cadets to practice Swachhta as a way of life and encourage others also to do so. He exhorted the cadets to carry forward the work of spreading awareness on Digital Payment and 'Spread Excellence' amongst their friends, family, village and the Community.
The Rally was attended by a number of dignitaries and eminent guests, including Raksha Mantri Smt Nirmala Sitharaman, Raksha Rajya Mantri Dr Subhash Bhamre, General Bipin Rawat, Chief of Army Staff, Admiral Sunil Lanba, Chief of Naval Staff, Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa, Chief of the Air Staff and Head of Departments of NCC foreign delegations and other important civil and military dignitaries.
