Army celebrating undying spirit of the disabled soldier
A Curtain Raiser programme 'Forever in Touch' was inaugurated by Lt Gen YVK Mohan, General Officer Commanding, Rising Star Corps at Mamun Cantt on July 18, 2018. The programme 'FIT 2018' involved a large number of outreach activities undertaken by the Gurj Division for over 15000 Disabled Soldiers across six northern states of the country.
The programme was graced by Maj Gen K Narayanan, General Officer Commanding, Gurj Division along with Veteran Brand Ambassadors: Maj Gen SK Razdan, KC, VSM, Maj DP Singh, Capt S Sangwan and Hony Capt Bana Singh, PVC. The event was also attended by over 100 disabled soldiers and large number of civil & military dignitaries.
In his address, the GOC, Rising Star Corps emphasised that Indian Army is celebrating the year 2018 as 'Year of the Disabled Soldier' to honour the brave hearts who were disabled in line of Duty. Towards this, a large number of outreach activities are planned under the aegis of Rising Star Corps from July to October 2018 for disabled soldiers residing in six northern states of India. The main event in form of a Mega Rally for four days has been planned for over 1500 disabled soldier in November 2018 at Mamun Cantt.
Maj Gen SK Razdan (Retd) shared his experiences and also emphasised on various central and state Govt facilities available for the disabled soldiers. The Brand Ambassadors were felicitated and Special Hearing and Mobility aids were presented to Disabled Soldiers by the GOC, Rising Star Corps.
During the event, a Cycle Rally was also flagged off by the GOC, Rising Star Corps which will travel through the villages to commemorate the occasion and to spread the message 'Forever in Touch 2018.
