The mini-war of Kargil, launched on May 6, 1999, is a saga of bravery and valour that lasted 80 days and ended with eviction of the intruders. The war was fought at the daunting altitudes and seemingly unassailable peaks ranging from 13,000 to 18,000 feet.
Kargil Vijay Diwas (Victory Day) is celebrated on 26 July each year to commemorate this Glorious Victory.
