An Ex-servicemen rally was conducted at Lebong, Darjeeling on March 25, 2018. Major General MK Sagoch, General Officer Commanding 27 Mountain Division inaugurated the event. The rally was conducted by 123 Mountain Brigade under the aegis of Trishakti Corps and addressed the grievances/ problems of the Ex-servicemen and felicitated the disabled soldiers and Veer Naris.
The event was attended by over 8,500 ex-servicemen and their families. The year being dedicated to war disabled soldiers, their sacrifices to the nation were honoured by distributing modified scooters and wheel chairs. Gracing the event, Mrs Jyoti Sagoch, Chairperson, Family Welfare Organisation, Striking Lion Division gave away Education scholarship and Computer Grants to the children of the martyrs.
Major General MK Sagoch addressed the veterans and informed them about the various welfare schemes initiated by the Army HQ to include the education, computer and marriage grants to the kith and kin of the martyrs.
The event included Medical camp with specialists from Army and Civil, in situ registration for ECHS and Aadhar Card, resolution of pension anomalies by representatives of Record Office and second career options by Army Placement Node, Kolkata and Darjeeling Hotel Association. Civil administration and District police also came forward to resolve a number of administrative grievances of the veterans.
