At an impressive and clockwork ceremonial parade at 11 Gorkha Rifles Regimental centre (11GRRC) on August 12, 2017, 84 smartly attired and well turned out recruits gave a fine display of their training by marching in front of the reviewing officer. The impressive parade was marked by military precision and customary elegance, the recruits took the oath to serve the nation with honour and pride even at the cost of their lives, if need be. This oath guides a solider throughout his service for complete dedication to his regiment in the highest traditions of the Indian Army.
At the parade, reviewed by Brigadier Pankaj Singh, Commandant 11 GRRC and witnessed by a host of Officers, Junior Commissioned Officers and Other Ranks and proud parents, brothers and sisters of the recruits, the Commandant traditional "Silver Khukri" was presented to Rifleman Biraj Rai, Rifleman Thilen Lhomi and Rifleman Man Kumar Limbu for Best Recruits. Awards were also presented for the best performance in various discipline of training such as Weapon Training, Physical training, Bayonet Fighting, Theory and Sports. The Reviewing Officer, Brigadier Pankaj Singh addressed the parade and inspired them to serve with utmost dedication and sincerity. He specially stressed on the single defining quality of a soldier that is Loyalty: loyalty to peers, subordinates, superiors, the Regiment and the nation.
In order to recognize the spirit of the parents whose sons and daughters get enrolled in the Indian Army, Army Headquarter has initiated the award of "Gaurav Padak". On the occasion of the attestation parade three parents and guardians were awarded the "Gaurav Padak".
