An Ex-Servicemen interaction was conducted at Madurai which was presided over by Lieutenant General D Anbu, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command. The event was conducted by Madras Regimental Centre under the aegis of Dakshin Bharat Area on October 1, 2017 at Viranganoor, Madurai. Mrs Gowari Anbu, President Northern Command Army Wives Welfare Association, Lt Gen RK Anand, General Officer Commanding, Dakshin Bharat Area graced the occasion. An approximate strength of 400 Ex-Servicemen and their dependents attended the event which was held in order to obtain first hand feedback regarding their problems and to monitor ongoing welfare activities by the Army/ State Government. This was also utilized as a platform to introduce the Ex-Servicemen to the civil authorities to enhance direct interaction between them.
At the outset, Lieutenant General D Anbu, addressed the gathering. He informed them about various welfare projects being undertaken by the Army in Tamil Nadu. He recollected the sacrifices made by Ex-Servicemen and emphasized that their welfare is the main focus of the Chief of the Army Staff. Informing them about various health schemes, he said that the Ex-Servicemen clinics are being run at Madurai to provide low cost medical treatment. The General Officer exhorted the Ex-Servicemen and widows to encourage the youth to come forward and join the forces.
The civil authorities assured expeditious resolution of Ex-Servicemen's problems. A Medical Camp was also organized on this occasion, which was attended by doctors from Military Hospital and ECHS empanelled hospitals. Stalls by Record Offices were also established for all Ex-Servicemen.
Veterans and Veer Naris were felicitated during the event which was followed by tea for all present at the venue.
