The 12th Annual Graduation Ceremony of the Army College of Dental Sciences was held on November 6, 2017 in Jai Jawahar Nagar near Secunderabad.
Lieutenant General Bipin Puri, Director General Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS) and President's Honorary Surgeon was the chief guest of the Convocation Ceremony. Major General N Srinivas Rao, General Officer Commanding (GOC) Telangana & Andhra Sub Area (TASA) and Chairman, ACDS, Major General Sanjay Bagchi, MG Medical, Dakshin Bharat Area, Dr KV Ramana Reddy, Principal and Colonel (Retd) VK Kote, Registrar of the institute were the other dignitaries in the function.
Lt Gen Bipin Puri awarded BDS degrees to 40 graduates and MDS degrees to 11 post graduates in six clinical specialities. He congratulated the students and their parents and appreciated the academic excellence of the college. He advised the young doctors to be always compassionate, empathetic and to always put the patient's wellbeing above everything else. Lt Gen Bipin Puri said, "Oral health and physical health are very closely intertwined and for many systemic diseases the oral cavity is the sounding board for diagnostic tell tale signs. It is therefore incumbent on physicians and dentists to reinforce the qualities of oral health hygiene in people". He expressed concern on the wide demand and supply gap of dentists in the country. Major General N Srinivas Rao, GOC and Chairman ACDS also addressed the gathering and appealed to students to uphold the name of the institution and the profession.
Both the Chief of Army Staff rolling Trophy and General Officer Commanding in Chief, Southern Command rolling trophy were awarded to Ms Shagun Solanki for academic excellence in undergraduate course and Patron's rolling trophy was awarded to Dr Ashwin Prakash for excellence in postgraduate course. The graduating batches took the Hippocratic Oath after receiving their scrolls of honour. This was followed by a cultural program with much enthusiasm by the students and their parents.
Army College of Dental Sciences has been rated among the best Dental Colleges in India and is also accreditated with NAAC 'A 'grade. The college started in 2001 and since then the college has been delivering the quality dental treatments to the patients. The college is affiliated to KNR university and also an empanelled referal centre for Ex Servicemen health scheme. The college offers speciality in the field of implantology, esthetic surgery, maxillofacial surgey and prosthetic rehabilitation. The college is equipped with latest infrastructures and research facility and aims at imparting quality education to the students and specialised treatment for the patients.
