Indo-Kazakhstan Joint Army Exercise Prabal Dostyk 2017 was conducted between the Indian and Kazakhstan Army from November 2-14, 2017 in Bakloh (Himachal Pradesh). This is the second joint military exercise between the two countries which have a history of extensive cooperation in the defence arena. The first edition of the joint exercise was held in Kazakhstan in the year 2016. Senior military observers of both the countries witnessed the validation phase of joint exercise. The participating troops for this exercise who trained with personnel of the Kazakhstan Army were drawn from 3rd Battalion of the 11th Gorkha Rifles.
The aim of the joint exercise was to acquaint both forces with each other's operating procedures in the backdrop of counter insurgency and counter terrorism operations under UN mandate and culminated with a validation exercise. The overall aim was to enhance the existing military relationship between the Indian Army and the Kazakhstan Army and achieve synergy for joint conduct of operation as and when the requirement arises.
Personnel of both contingents expressed their satisfaction on the successful conduct of the joint exercise and were confident of having achieved a high degree of interoperability. The exercise also demonstrated the determination of the two armies in working closely with each other to eradicate the menace of terrorism in all its forms. The joint exercise was a resounding success and will go a long way in enhancing military ties between India and Kazakhstan.
