A team of 65 students from Madhya Pradesh accompanied by seven staff members visited Naval Base, Kochi on July 28, 2017. The visit was organised as part of 'Maa Tujhe Pranam' programme of the Department of Youth and Sports, Madhya Pradesh.
The 'Maa Tujhe Pranam' programme is being organised by the Government of Madhya Pradesh since 2013-14 with a view to create awareness on security of our national borders and Armed Forces as well as to inculcate sense of patriotism and adventure amongst the youth. Naval Base, Kochi has been regularly hosting the youth from Madhya Pradesh since inception of the programme.
The students visited INS Sharda based at Kochi to understand the role of a warship where they witnessed the weaponry, equipment and systems onboard. They were briefed by the officers onboard about the nuances of naval operations. Thereafter they visited the Seamanship School to be acquainted about sailboats and seamanship activities.
The youth were also provided an opportunity to understand about various aircrafts used in the navy operating from INS Garuda, the naval air station. The Maritime Museum at INS Dronacharya, Fort Kochi was also part of the visit.
