Coast Guard Commander, Western Seaboard Calls on the Hon'ble Governor & CM
Additional Director General K Natarajan, Coast Guard Commander Western Seaboard, on August 23, 2016, called on the Governor of Gujarat Mr OP Kohli. He was given a first-hand account of the coastal Security setup in place and the Indian Coast Guard's resolve to ensure seamless security through its Coastal Security Network. It was brought out that the expansion of the Indian Coast Guard within the state is keeping in tune with the cohesive defense mechanism among forces in the wake of the joint security regime.
The Commander Western Seaboard also called on the Chief Minister of Gujarat Sri Vijay Rupani and briefed him about the maritime and aviation assets and their deployment along the coast of Gujarat which has ensured enhanced coastal security along the strategic and vital coast of the state with due cooperation with other stake holders. Considering the strategic location of Gujarat and its proximity to the known adversary, the concern of Indian Coast Guard is also to ensure the safety of fishermen and mariners operating at sea. The ecological sensitivity of the Gulf areas and CG capabilities in combating marine pollution was also discussed. The Chief minister assured all possible assistance in developing the much needed infrastructure and capacity building of Indian Coast Guard in Gujarat.
The flag officer who took over as the Coast Guard Commander Western Seaboard on August 13, 2016 was accompanied by Inspector General VS Pathania, the Commander Coast Guard Region North West during both the meetings.
