Clean Sweep by Team ASC
Third tournament and final spell of Bangalore Polo Season August 2016 was played between Team ASC and Team RVC-Topkhana at ASC Polo Ground of ASC Centre & College in Bengaluru on August 28, 2016 where in Team ASC won by 8 ½ - 6 goals. The thrilling final match of Bangalore Polo Cup tournament, a Six Goal Tournament had the audience spell bound. Win by team ASC displayed high standard of hard work and horsemanship put in by the host to retain the championship at Home Ground.
Lt Gen SPS Katewa, Senior Colonel Commandant of Army Service Corps, Commandant, ASC Centre & College and Patron-in-Chief ASC Riding and Polo Academy, was the Chief Guest for the occasion and who gave away the Bangalore Polo Cup to the winning team i.e Team ASC. The Gen officer is himself a keen and active sportsman who ensured development of equestrian sports complex since the time he took over in May 2014, Thereby promoting the equestrian sports as well as Bangalore Polo Seasons. ASC Riding & Polo Academy has successfully conducted Bangalore Polo Season from the last three years 2014, 2015 and 2016 under his guidance and command. Maj Gen NS Rajpurohith, Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor of ASC Centre and College was also present.
Bangalore Polo Cup is a Six Goal Tournament, which is a higher format of Polo Tournament. To field best players, Team RVC & Team Topkhana combined as Team RVC-Topkhana, making a strong polo team against Team ASC to win the championship. Mr J Shergil a professional Polo Player and Brig SS Kashyap a senior and expert polo player with higher handicap has been flown in from Delhi to join Team RVC-Topkhana.
