In a glittering ceremony held at HQ Southern Command, 154 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) Bihar was awarded the coveted 'Southern Command Territorial Army Banner' by Lt Gen PM Hariz, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Southern Command on October 24, 2016. The Southern Command Territorial Army Banner is awarded to the best Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) on the basis of outstanding operational performance, high training standards, sound administration, performance in inter battalion competitions and winning of various awards and honours during the assessment period amongst the Territorial Battalions in Southern Command.
154 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) Bihar also known as Island Terriers was raised on September 10, 2001. Within a short span of 15 years of its raising, the Battalion has the distinction of winning two Commander-in-Chief Andaman & Nicobar Command Unit Appreciations, one Chief of Naval Staff Commendation Card, three GOC-in-C Southern Command Commendation Cards and 89 Commander-in-Chief Andaman Nicobar Command Commendation Cards. The Banner was received by Colonel Kulbir Singh, Commanding Officer and Subedar Major Mohendra Nath Mohanta.
