Lt Gen Devraj Anbu assumed the appointment of Northern Army Commander on December 1, 2016.
The General officer was commissioned into the Sikh Light Infantry in 1980 and has extensive staff and command exposures. He commanded a Mountain Brigade in the Kashmir Valley, a Division in North East and the Indian Military Training Team in Bhutan prior to commanding the Tezpur based Corps. The General Officer also briefly commanded the Sikh Light Infantry Regimental Centre and Assam Rifles Training Centre and School. Apart from important operational staff appointments at the Division and Corps Headquarters in the North East and Jammu and Kashmir, his staff appointments include tenures at the Military Secretary branch, Staff Duties branch and as Military Assistant to the Chief of the Army Staff at the Army HQ.
On assuming the charge, the General officer conveyed his greetings to all ranks and expressed his commitment to take forward the excellent work by his predecessors and all ranks of Northern Command in these challenging conditions.
Lt Gen Rakesh Kumar took over the Command of Dakshin Bharat Area on December 1, 2016. On assuming command, the General laid wreath at Victory War Memorial near Island Grounds and paid homage to the martyrs.
Lt Gen Rakesh Kumar Anand is a 1981 batch officer. He has done M Tech from IIT Delhi, M Phil from Madras University and MMS from Osmania University. The officer has vast experience both in technical and instructional fields and has served in various Regimental and Staff appointment. In his last tenure as Additional Director General Signals Staff, he was instrumental in implementing online the complete documentation for Junior Commissioned Officers and Other Ranks, e-Learning and online Examination; a project now being implemented by all Record Offices. The officer was elected as 59th Colonel Command of Corps of Signals on January 1, 2016. He is a distinguished member of IETE, USI, IDSA, IEEE and IIC. The officer has been awarded Sena Medal and Vishist Seva Medal during his illustrious career.
Air Marshal Amit Tiwari took over as the Commandant of Air Force Academy, Indian Air Force on December 1, 2016. Air Marshal Amit Tiwari graduated from National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla in May 1981 and was commissioned in the fighter stream of Indian Air Force on June 4, 1982. The Air Marshal has flown over 3500 hours on various fighter aircraft that include Ajeet & MiG-27.
The Air Marshal is a graduate of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, College of Defence Management, Secunderabad and National Defence College, New Delhi. He holds Master Degree in Defence Studies, Master of Management Studies and Master of Philosophy in National Security. In his illustrious career spanning nearly 34 years in the Indian Air Force, he has held many important appointments like Senior Officer-in-charge Administration of Central Air Command, Deputy Technical Manager (Air) at Ministry of Defence, Station Commander of a fighter base and Team Leader of Suryakiran, the Formation Aerobatics team of Indian Air Force. The Air Officer also served at Afghanistan as Air Advisor. The Air Officer was the first Air Defence Commander (AD Cdr) of the Central Air Command of the Indian Air Force. Prior to taking over the prestigious post of Commandant of Air Force Academy, he was Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Training) at Air Headquarters.
The Air Marshal was awarded Vayu Sena Medal in 2003 for his distinguished service and professionalism of very high order and commendation by the Chief of the Air Staff in 1998.
Inspector General Paramesh Sivamani assumed as Deputy Director General (OPD&CS) on November 29, 2016. He joined the Indian Coast Guard on July 17, 1989. The officer, over the last two decades has served in various capacities in ashore and afloat appointments with distinction. The officer has a professional history, studded with achievements and proven track record of outstanding and meritorious performance in all the assignments he has held. The Flag officer is specialized in Navigation & Direction and his sea commands include all major ship classes of ICG which include Advanced Offshore Patrol Vessel Samar and Offshore Patrol Vessel Vishwast. His key staff assignments include Principal Director (Operations) and at the Coast Guard Headquarters and Chief Staff Officer (Operations) at the Coast Guard Regional Headquarters (East), Chennai.
The Flag Officer is an alumnus of the National Defence College, New Delhi and Defence Services Staff College, Wellington. He is a recipient of Tatrakshak Medal and was also awarded the Director General Coast Guard Commendation in 2012 and FOCINC (East) commendation in 2009.
