Lt Gen SPS Katewa, Commandant Army Service Corps Centre and College inaugurated a Military Transport Heritiga Park at the ASC Centre and College in Bengaluru on December 5, 2016.
Conceived as a tribute to the valiant services provided by the unflinching mechanical warriors of the Indian Army Mechanical Transport Fleet, "The Heritage MT Park" established at the ASC Centre & College, is a result of the impetus provided by the Commandant, Lieutenant General SPS Katewa, to document, exhibit and educate the coming generations of their exploits.
After dedicating the Park to the nation, General Katewa said that Vintage Dodge and Ford vehicles of the British era gave way to these faithful an relentless mechanical warriors which have constituted the core of the Indian Army Mechanical Transport fleet over five decades. These gallant machines served the fledgling nation resolutely, both in peace and war, paving the way eventually for newer generation vehicles.
The Heritage Mechanical Transport Park displays five vehicles like Jeep, Jonga, Nissan vehicles, 1 Ton and Shakthiman which have formed the backbone of the Indian Army Mechanical Transport Fleet since Independence and have faithfully served the Army in all kinds of terrain and operational conditions. In recognition of the yeoman services rendered by these gallant Mechanical Warriors towards cause of the Indian state, the `Mechanical Transport Park' was dedicated to the nation.
Major General NS Rajpurohit, Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor of the College and Commandants of No 1 ASC Training Centre, No 2 ASC Training Centre and a large number of Officers, and Other Ranks were present on the occasion.
