As part of the ongoing Southern Star Info Campaign meant to highlight the contribution of the Indian Army towards nation building and also to motivate the youth to join the Armed Forces, the Sindh Brigade of Jamnagar Military Station organised an event on November 28, 2016. Approximately 300 students of various schools of Jamnagar city and media-persons were invited and given a glimpse of the organisation and capabilities of an Infantry Battalion.
The event started with a warm welcome by the Commander Sindh Brigade. This was followed by a brief lecture on the genesis, contribution and capabilities of an Infantry Battalion. The commendable role played by the Infantry particularly during 1947- 48, 1965 and 1971 Indo-Pak war and conflict mesmerised the gathering. The contribution of the Indian Army giving aid to civil authorities was also highlighted, particularly in J&K and also during natural calamities. A brief on future capability enhancement plans was also given to the audience.
A lecture on "Career in Armed Forces" was conducted to educate the students on various opportunities available to them to enroll into the elite forces as a career option. This was followed by interaction with soldiers decorated with gallantry awards and Distinguished Service medals. The event culminated with an awe inspiring live demonstration and equipment display. The students were enthralled by the personal accounts of acts of bravery and the assortment of weapons and equipments displayed. The enthusiasm and inquisitiveness shown by the students during the event bears testimony to the success of the event.
